About

Sacred Heart Therapy LLC

"Faithful Catholic Counseling Serving Metropolitan Kansas City and the State of Kansas" Hi, I'm Hunter Cook (pictured below), and in my work with clients I bring a lifetime of experience along with in-depth knowledge of the Catholic faith and training in faith-integrated counseling. The thing I love most about being a therapist is journeying with clients - helping INDIVIDUALS find wholeness, COUPLES restore intimacy, FAMILIES heal interaction patterns, and GROUPS support personal transformation. I work from a trauma-informed lens and have AEDP Level II and EMDR Level II certifications. Having navigated many seasons of life, I have accumulated over 18 years of ministry experience helping people find healing and hope. Currently, I am working through steps to become a certified Catholic Spiritual Director so I can provide clients the very best in faith and therapy integration. My office is modern and fresh, located in the co-working suites at the Creative Planning campus at 435 and Nall - the buildings with the big KC Heart facing 435. This location is centrally located in south KC and is easily accessible from all points in the metro. Regarding fees, I do not take insurance and am considered out-of-network, but superbills can be provided for possible insurance reimbursement. Payment can be made by credit card, debit card, or FSA/HSA. Please see the fee schedule below for more details and for sliding scale options. Consider selecting the "Request Appointment" button above to book a first session. I would love to hear your story, discuss your goals and ideas, and take those first steps together. You are meant to live the abundant life. That journey can begin today! I look forward to making the connection. * * * GROUP THERAPY DESCRIPTIONS Group therapy is a great way to begin healing in a cost-effective manner while leaning into life-giving social support. Two options are available at this time: Tuesday evenings, 6:30-8pm, in-person or telehealth TRAUMA TREATMENT GROUP “Early Recovery: Promoting Safety and Self-Care” Established as a Trauma Information Group using the curriculum of renown trauma therapists Drs. Herman and Kallivayalil, this group will be held for 10 weeks and cover self-contained specific topics. Members will gain a greater understanding of trauma, the mental health consequences of victimization, and how to begin the process of recovery. Members will be given handouts and worksheets to support their work, which they can take to their individual therapists for further processing and exploration. Thursday evenings, 6:30-8:00pm, in-person or telehealth INTERPERSONAL PROCESS GROUP "Support and Accompaniment for Personal Work" This group will gather on Thursday nights for 10 weeks to explore topics such as trust, vulnerability, boundaries, family dynamics, and interpersonal difficulties. Past clients have shared how the empathic support they found in group work helped them find their authenticity, gain interpersonal confidence, and improve relationships. Anyone seeking breakthroughs, peace, and abiding inner security would enjoy this group. It is also a great place to start as a first introduction to therapy. * * * Catholic Therapists profile: https://www.catholictherapists.com/hunter-gibbs-cook Catholic Counselors List - Archdiocese of Kansas City in KS https://archkck.org/family/care-support/catholic-counselors/ Attachment Counselor profile: https://attachmentcounselor.com/hunter-cook-ma-lpc-copy Select "Client Resources" tab for helpful free info Psychology Today profile: https://www.psychologytoday.com/us/therapists/hunter-cook-overland-park-ks/1354635 Member, Catholic Psychotherapy Association Member, Kansas Counseling Association Spiritual Direction Training Program, Avila Institute and Heart of Christ Master of Arts in Counseling, MidAmerica Nazarene University, Chi Sigma Iota AEDP Level II Certification, AEDP Institute EMDR Level II Certification, Miranda Counseling Psychology coursework, Divine Mercy University Master of Architecture, University of Kansas Undergrad, University of Kansas, Phi Beta Kappa Member, Equestrian Order of the Holy Sepulchre of Jerusalem Member, Apostoli Viae Certified Instructor, Catholic ENDOW Groups Cenacle Leader, Message of the Divine Mercy * * * "Here to Serve and Excited to Make the Journey With You"
